TO SHOWCASE FAMILY TREASURES

This renovation in Bethesda, Maryland was a complete makeover of the owner’s primary residence. The client’s vision was very personal and specific: modernize the space in a way that could pay homage to beloved parents and their treasures of artwork, rugs, and furnishings from travels around the world.

The realization of the client’s vision was achieved with updates to flooring, fixtures, and lighting in new neutral tones. Outdated tile in the foyer, bathroom, and kitchen, and two layers of veneer and parquet flooring in the remaining living space was replaced with LVT by Mosaic in Mott Timber Crema throughout. Benjamin Moore paint in Simply White and Swiss Coffee freshened the walls, readying them for small galleries of cherished wall art. Bulky built-ins were removed in the dining and living room and replaced with airy alcoves with recessed lighting to create a feeling of more space in the main living area.

The kitchen area was rejuvenated with new Bosch appliances in a timeless stainless finish and Dura Supreme Arcadia Panel painted cabinets in Putty, with modern and beautifully contrasting Jeffrey Alexander hardware in brushed pewter. A polished quartz MSI Surfaces countertop in Calacatta Prado, and herringbone backsplash using Marazzi tile in Nordic Sand Gloss rounded out the transformation, resulting in a refreshed and inspired neutral kitchen space.

The master bath shower was revamped from fiberglass to a stunning high-end Schluter shower, including a unique drain in the Curve design. Somerville Hudson Due Gloss shower floor tile in Dove Gray was applied with coordinating Mosaic Velvet Matte Almond shower wall tile. Continuity with the nearby kitchen was achieved with use of the same polished quartz counter top a crisp Dura Supreme custom vanity in the same Putty hue as was used in the kitchen. Modern Jeffrey Alexander, Hansgrohe and Kohler hardware and fixtures in brushed nickel finishes rounded out the bathroom overhaul. All elements meshed in this condo renovation to create a stunning space of beauty, comfort, and good memories for the client that will be built upon for years to come.
