Tis the season of giving – and, for many of us, resolution-making. In the spirit of giving and looking ahead toward 2023, we’d like to give you the gift of advice in the form of a few home remodeling New Year’s resolutions:
- Trust your design team. Got a problem you think can be fixed with a renovation or a remodel but aren’t exactly sure how to pull it off? Your design-build team has 100 different ways to solve that problem. There are times when you might not understand what your design professionals propose as the solution but trust in them – they have the expertise to back it up and your best interests at heart.
- Don’t procrastinate! In our experience, many folks think they need to have their remodel project fully formed in their head, down to the last drawer knob pull, before they engage with a design-build firm. Take it from us – it’s better to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later. Even with improvements in the global supply chain, we’re still seeing long lead times on many home products. Our best advice to you? If you want to ensure your renovation gets done in 2023, call us on January 2 to get on our schedule.
- Get ready to leave the gray behind. We’re seeing more color with true tones coming back in style, so before you commit to a color scheme, consult with your design-build team to ensure you’re in line with current and upcoming trends.
If you’ve ever made a New Year’s resolution before (losing weight, starting a savings program, etc.) you’re familiar with how hard it can be to stick to it. It seems once we get past January they just seem to drop off our radar. We’d like to offer a couple of suggestions that’ll help you stick to your remodeling resolutions over the next 12 months:
- Just do it! There’s no better time to start than now. As the sayings go, none of us are getting any younger and there’s no time like the present. Engaging with a design-build firm is the hardest part. Get that out of the way and their professionals will help you with the rest of the heaving lifting.
- Resolutions to support resolutions. Let’s say you (like many of us) want to be healthier in the new year. That can translate to a lot of things. What about remodeling a corner of your home into a Pelogon/yoga nook, or a steam/sauna room? Maybe you’d like to add more windows to increase your vitamin D intake. Or perhaps your resolutions revolve around being better organized in the new year. If that’s the case, what about remodeling one or more of your closets to better support your organizational goals?
At the end of the day, it’s all about investing in your home which is, in turn, an investment in yourself. Don’t be afraid to rethink how you’re using your existing space in your home. And when you’re ready to pull the trigger, make sure you engage with a professional design-build team that has the knowledge and experience to bring your home resolutions to life.
