House to Home Solutions CEO Daniel Carrero isn’t just passionate about crafting home transformations; he builds connections across the industry and community, too. This year, Daniel has been engaging with Montgomery County Public Schools to assist the educational system in preparing the county’s young people to be career-ready.
The Maryland State Department of Education has released a multi-year strategic plan prioritizing the milestones a Maryland student should achieve from early childhood through high school to become successful in college, career, and life. The fourth of four priorities, “Ready for College and Career,” sets out a statewide goal of, by the 2030-2031 school year, having 45% of high schoolers earning a registered apprenticeship or an industry-recognized occupational credential before they graduate. In 2021, only about 7% of graduates met the criteria.
In June, MCPS announced the appointment of Dr. Thomas Taylor as the district’s next superintendent. Dr. Taylor quickly assembled educational leaders, business leaders, chambers of commerce, political action committee leaders, and other local leaders to kick off an advisory group to help shape workforce development initiatives for his new five-year strategic plan. He is involving the business community to help create a path for graduates to work at local Montgomery county-based businesses. Daniel was invited to be part of that advisory group.
“We don’t deliver excellent customer service and home transformations in a vacuum,” explains Daniel. “Our mission of excellence extends to supporting those around us in continuing to grow, learn, and contribute. Helping to craft the next MCPS strategic plan is just one way to give back and support the next generation of architects, designers, and other future workers.”
Career and workforce development are core tenets of Daniel's leadership of the company, engagement in the home renovation profession, and service to the Rockville-area community. In addition to supporting today’s young people, House to Home Solutions hosts free monthly educational events open to all. Daniel also participates in the workforce development committee for the Professional Remodeling Organization.
